Brgy, SK candidates urged to undergo drug testing

By Joseph Jubelag Koronadal City, South Cotabato- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has enjoined candidates for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections here to undergo voluntary drug testing as a gesture of support to the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign. DILG city director Juanito Agullana said more than 270 village poll candidates have turned up, since Monday, at the city hall here to subject themselves to drug testing. He said there are about 1,000 candidates running for barangay and SK elections here who are expected to undergo the voluntary drug test as a gesture of support to the anti-illegal drug campaign of the Duterte administration. Agullana stressed that the village poll bets are not required to undergo the mandatory drug test which will determine if they are into illegal drugs. “If the candidate has nothing to hide, then he will not hesitate to undergo the drug test,” Agullana said.
