Davao pastor cites Bro. Eddie’s platform
DAVAO CITY - Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the religious group The Kingdom of Jesus Christ, Thursday expressed admiration for the platform of Bangon Pilipinas presidential bet Bro. Eddie Villanueva, and provided him two hours of airtime on the TV station operated by the congregation here.
Touted to have three million members, Quiboloy’s group had been wooed by a number of presidential candidates, with the day of reckoning set on April 25, Quiboloy’s natal day.
Quiboloy was impressed with Villanueva’s discussion on how he plans to win the peace and achieve progress within six years.
With Quiboloy acting as moderator, Villanueva said the country is afflicted by three forms of cancer—corruption, injustice and poverty. These are the three evils that must be cured for the country to advance, the Bangon Pilipinas bet stressed.
In the first 100 days, Villanueva said, he would appoint decent, dedicated, and righteous Cabinet members who would be his overseers in overhauling the system of government.
Based on his research, the presidential candidate claimed that between P500 billion and P650 billion of government funds are lost, with 80 percent of it gobbled up by the Office of the President (OP) and the remaining 20 percent eaten up in the lower rungs of the bureaucracy.
Villanueva said mass poverty is the result of corruption in government and that the answer to poverty is to give jobs and higher wages to the poor. He added that farmers should be supported fully in order to encourage food production and put a stop to massive importations of rice and other food items.
He proposed the complete overhaul of the Office of the Ombudsman, Bureau Internal Revenue, Bureau of Customs, and other departments and officers and would be ready to fire grafters anywhere they are.
Villanueva said even the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Labor and Employment would be targeted, ridding them of political appointees and grafters in order to ensure that their budgets are used for the right purposes.
Only career ambassadors, consuls and labor and welfare officers must remain to ensure that they continue to assist Overseas Filipino Workers who have long been neglected, he added.
