Bulacan vice gov seeks to unearth vote-buying
Bulacan Vice Governor Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado Thursday urged the Commission on Elections to seriously look into reports that vote buying which is illegal by law will ruin the very intention of the first automated election to conduct fast, clean, honest and orderly election in the country.
“Lets us unite to protect the wisdom and the will of the people in the coming elections by way of reporting to authorities those people behind the reported plan of vote buying scheme by candidates who are out to cheat and ruin our electoral exercise”, Alvarado said.
Alvarado claimed that a group in his province headed by some candidates are now moving fast to create an alleged networking scheme in vote buying by way of recruiting members in every barangay and urging them to recruit more for a fee during election once they voted for candidates who are behind the scheme.
The vice governor disclosed that a number of Bulakeños are now aware of this scheme and are fed up with dirty politicking, saying they are studying the possibility of filing charges against those responsible in the alleged operation.
Alvarado reminded that those individuals who will be caught involved in the vote buying scheme will be imprisoned and a penalty of disqualification from running in public office will be meted out to vote buyers.
He also urge the public to immediately report any incidence of vote buying in their localities to put a stop to dirty politicking in the first automated elections in the country.
