Barbie Atienza, a candidate for councilor in the fifth district of Manila under the Alfredo Lim–Isko Moreno ticket enjoys helping people, particularly the needy. “I really don’t know why. It could be because helping others emblazoned in my veins,” said Atienza who spearheaded the recent Mapecon Philippines Sunday Mission that distributed foods and relief goods to fire victims in Paco. He said he finds the project laudable and looks forward to other opportunities where he can help people in the depressed areas.

According to Atienza, the campaign is buoyed up by the warm support of his wife, Ruth Marie Catan–Atienza, chief operating officer of Mapecon, a name synonymous to pest control.
