April 22, 2010, 7:35pm

"Earth Day Jam 2010” is set on Friday at 6 p.m. and as in previous years, guitar-donning and drum-beating “ambassadors” for Mother Earth will abound in the busy strip of Tomas Morato. Now on its 10th year, the musical marathon for Earth Day will feature over 20 bands, musicians and artists spearheaded by rock icon Lou Bonnevie, who like Richard Gutierrez is a recipient of the Fr. Neri Satur award for Environment Heroism given by the NCCA, UNESCO, Climate Institute and DepEd.

Major bands include The Dawn, Chicosci, 6Cyclemind, Kjwan, Urbandub, Callalily, Hilera, Imago, Session Road and Up Dharma Down. Rockabilly music will come from a fairly new act Bembol Rockers, along with The Bloomfields. Novelty and reggae will be courtesy of Radio Active Sago Project, Skabeche and Tropical Depression. World and folk music will come from Noel Cabangon and Kalayo (formerly Pinikpikan) with the pop rock-alternative scene bringing in along with veteran artist-producer Lou Bonnevie.

Produced by Dimitri Productions, “Earth Day Jam 2010” is presented by the QC Government through its Environmental Protection & Waste Management Dept., with support from the Dept. of Environment & National Resources, and the Dept. of Tourism.

Armando Fabia show at Palacio de Manila

A gala fashion show featuring the signature pieces of noted designer Armando Fabia is set on Friday night, April 23, at the Palacio de Manila along Roxas Blvd. This is Fabia’s comeback show after a break from fashion designing. Aptly billed as “Fabulous Armando Fabia Now,” it promises to be a grand Vegas-type experience with 35 male and female models taking Fabia’s sexy couture to a whole new level.

Hosted by R&B Prince Jay-R with Nikki Gil, the show will also feature Club Mwah’s Follie D’Mwah, the Freemale Dances and Mocha. As the show is for the benefit of Circle of Friends Foundation, guests are enjoined to bring school supplies for elementary students, for the foundation’s back-to-school program for the underprivileged.

Armando Fabia started creating stylish sexy pieces nine years ago at a time when designers were geared towards conservative swimwear and undergarments. He opted to go a step further by exposing more skin.

“Fabulous...” is supported by a power house team, 4th Wall, for the lights, sounds and stage design, music by DJ Jommel of Hong Kong, stage direction by Mak de Leon and Henry King Quitain, photography by Ronel Concepcion, hair and make-up by Bambbi Fuentes Creative Team with Joan Buenaobra, Aga Rinn and Jona Ella.
