NTC tightens measures vs child pornography

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) tightened its security measures against child pornography on the Internet.

In a circular, Internet service providers (ISPs) or network providers must now report to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) within seven days any form of child pornography being committed using their servers or facilities.

“The notification can be by telephone, text, through online medium or through any other means. The information shall include, among others, the logs/access to internet sites on child pornography,” the draft said.

Also, the NTC or any other proper authorities for that matter will now require all ISPs to furnish a copy of Internet users who gained or attempted to gain access to an internet address which contains any form of said pornography.

The circular added that the NTC will order all network providers to install software that will not allow Internet users to access any illegal content on the Web. (Pam Brooke Casin)
