Almost 700 personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority have been deployed in various parts of the metropolis to help in typhoon "Ulysses" operations in flooded areas.
The agency said they were dispatched to Pasig City, Marikina City, Manila, Pasig City, and Quezon City.
"A total of 692 MMDA personnel were deployed to various areas in Metro Manila for typhoon 'Ulysses' operations," the MMDA said.
MMDA said most of their personnel are helping local governments conduct rescue operations.Â
Some are helping in setting up evacuation sites as more people are being evacuated as of posting time.
They are also reportedly helping in road clearing operations of local government units as many trees have reportedly fallen on roads due to string winds of the typhoon.
Due to heavy rains from Ulysses, the water level of rivers in the metropolis quickly went up, including Marikina River.
Forced evacuation have been imposed on residents after the Marikina River reached 18 meters early Thursday morning, triggering alarm level 3.
As of 9:37 a.m. today, the Marikina River water level is 21.9 meters, the Marikina Public Information Office (PIO) said.
Metro Manila is still under tropical cyclone wind signal No. 3 due to Ulysses.Â
