A suspected sex trafficker has been arrested while two women have been rescued by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) from an alleged sex den in Ilagan City in Isabela.
NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor identified the arrested person as Nina Carlota Baquiran Mansibang who was apprehended by agents of the NBI Isabela District Office (NBI-ISDO) last Aug. 11.
“OIC Distor said that the operation stemmed from an intelligence report that Subject Nina is engaged in the illicit sex trade, offering young women for sexual services in exchange for a fee,” the NBI said in a statement issued on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
It said that Mansibang asked P2,000 as payment for each of the two women and P800 for their pocket money.
“Subject Nina was presented for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor of Ilagan City, Isabela for violation of Republic Act No. 9208 as amended by RA 10364, the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act,” the NBI said.
It said that the two rescued women were “turned-over to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development of Isabela.”
