NEW DELHI, India -- Local government in the northern Indian state of Punjab Saturday ordered full COVID-19 vaccination certificate or negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) report mandatory for all those entering the state, officials said.
The order would come into force from Monday.
The state's chief minister has also directed that only fully vaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff, or those recently recovered from COVID-19, should physically teach in schools and colleges, with online learning option to remain available to all children.
The local health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu suggested reducing the gap between the two doses to prioritise the second dose for teachers and other school staff, officials said.
