ILIGAN CITY -- Troops of the 34th Infantry Battalion recovered three unexploded ordnances at Sitio Mapayag, Barangay Tugal, Midsayap, Cotabato, on Monday morning, May 8, 2023. While soldiers were providing security assistance to the staff of the Ministry of Social Services and Development of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-BARMM), a concerned civilian reported the presence of alleged Rocket-Propelled Grenade Ammunition in the vicinity. According to Joint Task Force Central Commander, Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, the MSSD team was validating and identifying the damages caused by the armed clash between warring parties on May 3. Operating troops immediately cordoned the area and requested for an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team to recover and dispose of the said UXOs safely. Western Mindanao Command commander Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, commended the troops for their quick response to the report. He also attributed this accomplishment to the concerned citizen who did the reporting. “Let us continue to work together to keep our communities safe and secured,” said Lt. Gen. Galido. Recovered UXOs are now in the custody of the 34th EOD Team for proper disposal.
