Abalos proclaimed in Mandaluyong City
MANDALUYONG City – Incumbent Mayor Benjamin ”Benhur“ Abalos Jr. was proclaimed Tuesday as the winner in the mayoral race in the city. He attributed his winning to his transparent governance.
Abalos, also the president of the Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines (ULAP), won against his rival Ernest Albert, a Liberal Party mayoral candidate, by a margin of more than 70,000 votes.
Bro. Jimmy Isidro, spokesperson of the Chief Public Information Office, said the good leadership of Abalos is the reason why many of his constituents voted for him anew, as he makes the city a progressive one.
“In 2009, he was able to bring P42.25 million of investments," said Isidro.
Abalos is the son of former Comelec chair Benjamin Abalos Sr., who served as city councillor from 1995 to 1998. He was elected as mayor in Mandaluyong in 1998 and was re-elected in 2001.
The young Abalos also served as representative of the lone district of Mandaluyong.
