Killer shoots radio anchor in Tabuk City

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A hard-hitting radio was wounded and is now confined in a local hospital after being shot by a still unidentified gunman in front of a government radio station in Bulanao, here, Saturday morning.

Senior Superintendent Virgilio Laya, director of the Kalinga provincial police office, identified the victim as Jerome Tabanganay, 45, married, a radio announcer of DZRK Radyo ng Bayan Tabuk, who hails from this city.

Laya said Tabanganay had just parked his motorcycle and was about to unsaddle for his regular morning radio program “Agenda” when two men on a Honda XRM motorcycle stopped beside him.
One of the men asked him whether or not he was Jerome Tabanganay.

Sensing danger, Tabanganay ran into the radio station but was shot and hit in the right foot just before he got inside.

The gunman, packing a .45-caliber pistol, and the motorcycle driver quickly fled the scene.
