Cebu in the eyes of its beautiful women
There is now an extraordinary compilation of endearing images of the daughters of the Queen City of the South. Both revealing and entertaining, it gives every Filipino a better appreciation of the oldest city in the Philippines.
A coffee table book entitled “The Ladies of Cebu” authored by Honey Jarque-Loop provides a different approach to appreciating the Queen City of the South. It is the first-ever coffee table book about Cebuanas.
“The Ladies of Cebu” shares stories, emotions, and glimpses of the great women from the proud city of Cebu. The book features 208 ladies who have excelled in various fields, most of them coming from Cebu’s oldest families, corporate world, civic circles, and various parts of the world.
Jarque-Loop compiled the portraits of the beautiful Cebuanas and wove them together to explain how the natural beauty of the province has been enhanced by these beautiful ladies.
Among the ladies included in the book are Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Rosebud Sala, Teresin Mendezona, Tessie Javier, Pilita Corales, and Joanna Lhuillier.
For Jarque-Loop, “The Ladies of Cebu” is a personal achievement. For the past five years, she was driven by the need to acknowledge the significant contributions and stature of Cebuanas who are featured in the book.
“As an artist, the Cebuana stands behind the great shadow of her own masterpiece. The world is her canvas. She fills it with the different hues of challenges, weaknesses, passions, achievements, and dreams,” Jarque-Loop said.
Cebu is more than just a tourism destination. It is also the birthplace of great Filipinas — beautiful, charming, and achievers in their chosen fields.
