‘Mar’ unwinds in Baguio City
Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II has set aside worrying over his uphill battle for the vice-presidential post and instead headed for a climb to Baguio City over the weekend for a post-birthday vacation with his wife, broadcaster Korina Sanchez.
Through Roxas’ official Twitter account, the senator disclosed going to the country’s summer capital last Friday apparently to unwind from his ongoing tight race to the second highest post in the land against Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay.
“Akyat Baguio kami ni K(orina) para palamig ng konti. Langhap naming pine smell. Kaming dalawa lang namamasyal. Sarap! (Korina and I are heading to Baguio to cool down a bit. We are enjoying the pine smell. Only the two of us are having a leisurely walk. Wonderful!”) the senator tweeted at early morning last Friday.
It was recalled that Roxas has been cutting down on his media exposure and holing up in his Quezon City residence since Election Day. The senator only faced the media through a press conference last Thursday when he also celebrated his 53rd birthday.
As of press time, Roxas remains aloof with the media and has only been communicating with his friends and supporters only through social networking site Facebook and micro-blogging service Twitter.
Aside from the sought-after ambiance of Baguio City, Roxas has been tweeting about the dinner they have. He tweeted that they feasted over Filipino vegetable dish Pakbet with Bangus (milkfish) and Lechon Kawali.
According to Roxas’ staff, the senator is notable for his appetite. His favorite dish is Batchoy Illonggo.
