Blog-O-Rama
Jane Chua's Between Bites
I consider her one of today's prettiest local bloggers, but there's more to Jane Chua than that. She's brainy and oozes with passion for some of the finer things in life, such as food, travel and fashion. She works for a leading cable company and blogs during her off-hours. Considering the many events, travels and prizes she won as a blogger, it can be said that Jane is well on her way to make blogging her second home.
Q. A background about how you started to blog.
A. Writing has always been a hobby of mine since I was small. I’m still small. And it’s still a favorite hobby of mine.
I started with paper then moved to multiply then blogspot and then back to multiply before eventually getting my own Between Bites domain in 2007 at www.janedchua.com.
Q. What has been the best thing about blogging for you, so far?
A. The best thing about blogging is sharing my experiences to both friends and strangers –and hopefully inspiring them to feel happy about life and unwrap the world.
On the side, I’m quite grateful to get access or invites to product/restaurant launches and media events, obtain unsolicited sponsorship for my site’s contests, and catching a Singapore trip, a MAC book, a phone or two and side projects are fortunate bonuses. The tangible things are great but what moves me are the sweet stirring notes left by readers and friends that keep my fire burning.
Q. Name three things you can't live without as a blogger?
A. A camera, hi-speed Internet connection, and a smile
Q. Some things about blogging you learned that you didn't know, when you were just starting.
A. “It’s a jungle out there!” Just kidding. I learned that having your own domain is important.
Q. What do you think are the qualities a blogger should possess, in order to become successful.
A. If there’s one thing I always try to carry with me, it’s positive attitude. It’s also valuable to have the know how in putting relevant content on your site and continue engaging readers.
Q. Please name a famous personality you'd like to meet in person, while doing your work as a blogger.
A. Anthony Bourdain
Q. If your blog were food, what would it be, and why.
A. If my blog were food, it would be a paella valenciana –a mix of different interests but one linking factor, the rice that I associate with eating, which connects us all.
Q. Your blogger's wishlist for the remainder of 2010.
A. I wish to revamp my Between Bites site and make it easier for readers to navigate through it and a section for “Spotlight” where the best of the month is featured.
And I hope to finally push through with a possible Between Bites readers’ meet-up. I got lots planned for that. Keep an eye out!
