Suzanne Roces did just what was expected from her – firing missiles for San Sebastian College.

Dishing out her finest form so far, Roces fired 32 points to help the SSC belles beat the surprisingly stubborn Ateneo, 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12, and into the Shakey's V-League finals for the sixth time Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan City.

Roces was at her best in the final set where she scattered six points as the Exelroof-backed SSC belles swept the Lady Eagles in their best-of-three seminfinal series.

Hardly showing the form that gave them the straight set 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 win in Game One, the SSC belles struggled on both ends of the floor, and had it not been for Roces’ game-long brilliance and crucial hits in the fifth set the outcome could have been different.

SSC coach Roger Gorayed acknowledged their belor-par performance.

“Sama ng laro namin,” lamented Gorayeb whose squad committed 25 faults. “In fact, I didn’t expect to win and was already looking forward to Game 3.”

"There were also bad calls by the referees. Good thing, the breaks just went our way," Gorayeb said.

A 2008 first conference Finals MVP, Roces highlighted her brilliant performance with 21 kills, four blocks and seven aces as SSC pulled through in a see-saw battle that took almost two hours to finish.

Despite being swept, the Lady Eagles could take pride for the courageous effort in pushing the SSC belles to the corner. And they did that even without star player Charo Soriano due to ACL (knee) injury.

Behind the 30-point effort of Thai guest player Keawbundit Sontaya, the Lady Eagles actually looked headed on forcing a Game Three when they tied the count at 10-all in the fifth after trailing 1-4.
