The Pasay City Nutrition Council (PCNC) has convened to address undernourishment problem in the city after the National Nutrition Council (NCC) raises alarm on the skyrocketing costs of maintaining healthy nutrition in the country.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano reiterated during the 3rd quarter meet of the PCNC held at Pasay City Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 10, the importance of convening and empowering the Nutrition Council at the forefront, bringing the people to the best states of sustenance and nourishment.
“A healthy community is a reflection of a healthy and sustainable nutritional framework that we are all proud to be maintaining,” Rubiano said.
“If there are still people, especially children, who are not fed properly or are not given the right and ample care and nutrition, then we have to be reminded that in spite of all our plans and advocacies, we are still behind. We still need to work harder -- the hardest, actually,” she added.
In line with this, the city government said it will create a Local Nutrition Action Plan under the city’s Nutrition Council Resolution No. 1, Series of 2023.

Councilor Joey Calixto Isidro Jr., the vice chairman of PCNC and chairman of City Council’s Committee on Health and Sanitation, said that through the resolution, the national government’s Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) has been translated to the city’s Local Nutrition Action Plan (LNAP).
Isidro stressed that the creation of LNAP aims to respond to the challenges and problems of malnutrition.
“The LNAP prepared by the local nutrition committee is an integral part of the local development plan and annual investment program,” said Isidro.
Rubiano said LNAP is a three-year plan that contains an assessment of the local nutrition and related situation, the objectives for the nutrition programs and a work plan to implement programs, projects, and activities.
She also said the nutrition action plan also aims to execute monitoring and evaluation schemes, estimate budgetary requirements, and arrange organization and coordination.
The mayor firmly stated that in 2025, Pasayenos will expect an obvious, substantial and sustainable nutrition sector, guided by her genuine desire to provide Tapat at Higit pa sa Sapat na Paglilingkod to more than 450,000 people of the city.
