Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has suspended classes in all levels both in public and private schools in the city on Monday (July 22) for President Rodrigo Duterte’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
While SONA 2019 is not considered a national holiday in the country, some areas, particularly in Quezon City, will be affected by heavy traffic and mass protest rallies during the event.
SONA is a constitutional obligation and yearly tradition where the President gives his report on the pressing issues in the country unveils the government’s agenda for the coming year, and provides advice to Congress certain legislative measures.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the President will have “short” speech since the pre-SONA forum was held earlier this month.
