Derek has Gretchen and Bea in ‘Magkaribal’
Derek Ramsay is really getting more and more good projects wherein to showcase his acting mettle. After “Habang May Buhay” where he was paired anew with Judy Ann Santos (his leading lady in his first teleserye “Ysabella”), he is now taping his scenes for “Magkaribal” where he has two exciting leading ladies: Gretchen Barretto and Bea Alonzo. Aside from “Magkaribal,” Derek also has a new movie which will team him up with Erich Gonzales.
“But this is supposed to be a secret yet so I cannot tell you anything more,” Derek said during his recent launch as brand ambassador of Acer at the Makati office of Acer Philippines, Inc. which for the first time has tapped the services of a celebrity endorser.
The company believes that the successful print and commercial model and actor will help boost the brand’s image even further and create more awareness about its products.
Said Manuel Wong, general manager of Ace Phils. “We’re happy that Mr. Ramsay agreed to sign up to be the brand ambassador of Acer. We believe that our choice of Mr. Ramsay, with his clean and credible image as a celebrity, will lend further awareness to Acer as a top IT brand in the Philippines.” They made real good last year, Wong said, “and we thought it’s time to get a brand ambassador, an image to match our product.”
Derek, who is the son of a Detective Inspector of the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom who’s married to a Filipina who worked as head of the housekeeping department in a popular hotel in London, is no stranger to hardship, he said. He worked his way to the top, taking on odd jobs along the way. He became a commercial model, then video jock for MTV Phils. He was soon offered acting jobs. And as they say, the rest is history.
