BFP probes QC gas leak

The investigation into the apparent gas leak which happened in Quezon City has been turned over to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The residents of Matimtiman Street in Quezon City were affected by a dizzying smell which spread in their area, Wednesday, which was initially found out to have come from an alleged leaking container tank.

Residents Regino Basilio, 72 and David Arroyo, 90 were taken to nearby hospitals after suffering from difficulty of breathing due to the involuntary inhaling of “chemical fumes.”

PO3 Joey Cortez, of the QC Police District (QCPD) Station 10 initially handled the case, reporting that as early as 9 am Tuesday, a dizzying smell started to spread in the area.

Because of this, many of the residents had a feeling of nausea while some plants and animals in the vicinity allegedly died because of the smell.

The stench supposedly became even more intense as the day what on and last Wednesday night, the  victims were rushed to the hospital.

Residents of the area told police that the fumes supposedly emanating from the container tank were similar to that of chlorox, a bleaching agent.

The supposed chemical leak allegedly happened inside the residence of a certain Denise Teodora, of 26-A Matimtiman Street in QC.

SFO1 Rosendo Cabilan, arson investigator of the Quezon City Fire Department, is handling the case.
