'Impunity no longer exists in PBBM's administration' – Sec Remulla
“Impunity no longer exists” in the current administration, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla said on Tuesday, July 25.
“No such thing as impunity now. “Everybody accounts for what they do,” Remulla said during a press briefing.
He cited the arrests of persons involved in the death of broadcasters Percival C. Mabasa and Cresenciano Bunduquin as well as the killing of a relative of a tabloid reporter.
“We are not sleeping on the job,” he declared.
“If you look at the cases of journalists compared to before, I think we have been able to hold the people responsible,” Remulla said.
“The three cases that we have, na-solve natin lahat (we have solved all of them),” he added.
He stressed: “We can trust our institutions more now.”
“Mas maayos ngayon ang ating pamamalakad ng gobyerno. Matibay ang rule of law (The government is run better now. The rule of law is stronger),” he said
He noted that “the rule of law is actually a very important part of economic development.”
