With December just right around the corner, Malacañang has reminded companies that they must release a 13th month pay to their employees.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said no company is exempt from complying with this holiday season benefit, since it is a matter of law. However, the Palace official vowed that the government will assist small and medium-scale industries--the ones that were hard hit by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic--in coming up with funds for their workers'' 13th month pay.

For its part, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has suggested offering soft loans to business owners to help them pay for their employees' 13th month salary.

Meanwhile, all systems are go for the start of pediatric vaccination against COVID-19 tomorrow, Oct.

In other news, nearly 50 percent of Filipinos believe that it is dangerous to print or broadcast anything critical of the Duterte administration even if it is the truth, according to the results of a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
