By Argyll Cyrus Geducos President Duterte reminded soldiers to not allow themselves to fall victims or hostages of terrorists groups and urged them to destroy and kill them. In a speech in at Camp Teodulfo Bautista Headquarters, Brgy. Bus-bus, Jolo, Sulu Saturday night, Duterte said he will support the soldiers in their fight against terrorists. President Rodrigo Duterte (SIMEON CELI JR./PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) "I assure you that you have my full support as you conduct intensive military operations against these terrorist groups, particularly those who subscribe to the extremist ideologies of the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda," he said during the close-in event. "That’s just a bankrupt ideology. Ang alam lang nito magpatay pati magsira (All they know is to destroy and kill). Destroy and kill. So my order to you: Destroy and kill also. Bakit ka magpalugi (Why be at a disadvantage)?" he added. Duterte then said that he's the only Philippine president who gives out sidearms to soldiers, noting how the fight against terrorists goes. "Ako lang 'yung Presidente na nagbibigay ng sidearm kasi lalo na dito, giyera dito babuyan eh (I'm the only president who gives out sidearms, especially here because the war here is so extreme)," he said. "Do not surrender. Kaya ako, binigyan ko kayo ng (That's why I gave you sidearms) --- that's one magazine deployed, another two. Pag naubos ‘yung dalawa, 'yang last magazine, iyo 'yan (If the two run out, the last one is for you)," he added. The President reiterated his advice to soldiers to not allow themselves to be caught by terrorists or they will face the worst kind of torture. "Huwag kang pumayag na kunin sa'yo buhay 'yang baril mo. At kung ma-corner ka, wala ka ng bala, huwag kang magpahuli (Do not let them take your gun. And if you got cornered, don't let them take you)," Duterte said. 'Dadalhin ka ng kampo, gawain kang aso doon at pagkatapos, iharap ka sa camera, luglugin ka (They will bring you to their camp, treat you like a dog, and then they will bring you in front of the camera and slit your throat)," he added. Duterte then said that he knows that Filipino soldiers are brave and are ready to die for the country. "Pero 'yang sabi ko, huwag kayo magpababoy. Ang sundalo ko, matapang at handang mamatay. Kaya ‘pag wala ka ng bala, 'yung last magazine, kainin mo na lang (But like I said, don't let them treat you like animals. My soldiers are brave and prepared to die. If you run out of bullets, just eat your last magazine)," he said. No surrenders Meanwhile, Duterte said that he will next raise the bar higher and will not anymore accept surrenderees. "But next time around, we will raise the bar higher. Sabi ko ‘pag magdating ang---wala ng surrender-surrender (I said when the time comes, we will not be taking surrenderees)," he said. "Fight ka diyan hanggang mamatay ka. Hindi na mag-accept ng surrender. Pabalik-balik kayo (You fight until you die. We will not accept surrenderees. You keep going back and forth)," he added.
