Manila theft gang leader suspect arrested
Manila law enforcers arrested a man suspected of leading the theft operations of the supposed “Jumper Kids” in Pandacan, Manila before dawn Sunday.
Supt. Ernesto Barlam, head of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 10, identified the arrested person as Alexander Arellano, 28, of 1188 Kahilum II, Pandacan in Manila.
The two minors who were with Arellano when the latter was arrested were turned over to the custody of their respective parents inside the MPD-Station 10, according to Barlam.
“Arellano was allegedly being pointed to be the mastermind of the supposed “Jumper Kids” that victimizes trucks that were plying along Quirino highway by jumping on the rear portion of the truck and steal the goods carried by the said vehicles while they were immobile before the red light,” he told the Manila Bulletin in a telephone interview.
Barlam said Arellano and the two minors were arrested at the corner of Jesus street corner Quirino Avenue in Pandacan Manila at 5:30 a.m., Sunday.
An hour before the suspect was arrested, Barlam said that they received a phone call from a concerned citizen that the supposed members of Jumper Kids were sighted on the area together with their supposed handler.
Members of the Anti-Crime Unit went to the area and spotted at least two kids and a man loitering near the Shell Station on the corner of the streets. Arellano however reportedly ran, prompting the police officers to chase and arrest him. Barlam said they are preparing to file appropriate charges against the suspect.
