Dream TV donates to World Vision
Dream Satellite Television, the Philippines’ pioneer in satellite TV, donated recently P426,600 to World Vision’s Child Sponsorship Program. This is part of its corporate social responsibility and its mission to reach and touch the lives of Filipinos.
With this gesture, Dream Satellite TV proved that they not only provide Filipinos with total entertainment and quality programs (using sophisticated satellite technology) but also living up to their core belief of reaching and touching the lives of everyone especially those who belong to the economically challenged.
Gracing the turn-over ceremony was Ms. Tintin Bersola-Babao, celebrity ambassador of World Vision Philippines, who emphasized the important tole of broadcast media in the success of their projects, and top executives of Dream Satellite TV, among them Boris F. Joaquin, director of Publics in Ministry of WVP. He said: “We want to see every child to have a capacity to dream dreams again, to have ambition, to play, to be creative, to be everything that they can possibly be.”
With over 26,000 locally sponsored children and counting, WVP with the support of individual donors both locally and internationally, and corporations such as Dream Satellite TV, aims to support and help children, their families and their communities to alleviate poverty and injustice.
The partnership of WVP and Dream Satellite TV started in December 2008 when Dream sponsored 20 World Vision scholars. Then in November 2009, when the country was badly hit by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, Dream Satellite TV apportioned part of its sales from the “Dream-All-You-Can” promo for the livelihood rehabilitation of WVP.

‘Bedazzled 10’ at Club Mwah
Club Mwah’s reputation of having world-class productions has been getting more consistent than ever. Its currently running show “Bedazzled 10” is an indication.
“Bedazzled 10” is a hodge-podge of Broadway excerpts (“West Side Story,” “Showgirl”), impersonations of Patti Labelle and Minnie Ripperton, spoofs of segments from “Glee,” a reinvented choreography of Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds Are Forever” (from the soundtrack of a James Bond hit spy movie of the same title), the “Dream girls” production number, a reworking of a Las Vegas grand musical, “That’s Entertainment,” an original choreographed motorcycle headlights/flashlights dance based on a remix of disco tunes, the very colorful and festive take of Rio de Janeiro’s Mardi Gras, the fantasy-driven “Real Woman Tonight” and the straightforward, smack-on-your-face “We Are What We Are.”
The show’s piece-de-resistance is a proof of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” whose set, costumes and props are authentically Japanese. Actually, every production design detail is carefully researched and executed. According to producer Pocholo Malillin, “we never scrimp on the budget in order to maintain the show’s high standards. We don’t want to short-change our audience. We don’t want to renege on our commitment to give their money’s worth!”
The shows at Club Mwah are generally influenced by Las Vegas and Broadway and movie musicals are superbly produced, choreographed and presented. No wonder the place continues to receive rare reviews. In fact, the club has been awarded several recognitions such as the Outstanding Theater Club in Asia and Global Awardees of Excellence, both awarded by the Asia Pacific Award Council. For this, credit goes to choreographer/director Cris Nicolas who is also Club Mwah’s president.
The glittery Club Mwah sits in the so-called “Tiger City of the Philippines,” Mandaluyong along Boni Ave.
Club Mwah is turning six years in September this year. It promises to reach greater heights and up the ante in musical entertainment.
Club Mwah Theater and Restaurant is also a perfect venue for exclusive parties, product launches and corporate events complete with cutting-edge equipment and state-of-the-art facilities. For more info, you may visit its website: www.clubmwah.com.

The Library turns 25
This year, The Library, the premier and pioneering live comedy venue and favorite party place in Malate is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Established and managed by Andrew de Real (fondly called Mamu Andrew by friends and colleagues), it started out as a modest club along Adriatico in Manila where people meet to have a drink while being regaled by jokes courtesy of the talented sing-along masters who have grown in number. Through the years, The Library has become a home away from home for its many loyal patrons. The place has managed to sustain its status as second home to loyal patrons and career launch pad for talents who have become household names in the comedy entertainment industry like Ai Ai delas Alas, Arnel Ignacio and Allan K.
On June 21, a grand musical presentation will mark The Library’s silver anniversary. To perform are in-house talents and staff. Awards and recognition will also be given to those who have showed excellence in their craft as entertainers and performers. Joining the party are Ai Ai, Allan K, Teri Onor, Pooh and others.
The Library will also release a commemorative silver anniversary coffee table book aptly titled “The Library: 25 Chapters of Laughter.”
