After getting his bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts last year, TV host Boy Abunda now teaches Radio and Television at the school where he graduated from – Philippine Women’s University.

Abunda started his first teaching session Wednesday, June 23. Due to his very hectic schedule, the TV host is only teaching twice a month, two Wednesdays each month. This was an agreement he had with the PWU administration. Abunda teaches Mass Communication students, and his work is for four to five hours.

On his first day as a teacher, a lot of Mass Communication students were surprised to see Abunda in their class. His initial foray as a college professor will be shown in his nightly show “Showbiz News Ngayon.” Also, Abunda will be featured in ABS-CBN’s magazine The Buzz.

Abunda took his master’s degree in International Relation on Public Diplomacy also from PWU.

Abunda availed of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd). Under the program, an applicant’s work experience is put on careful and thorough evaluation before a decision can be made if it can be converted into academic units. Abunda, who took up but failed to finish his Business Management course at the Ateneo de Manila, was fortunate that his acquired units in the said university were also credited.

“Gusto ko talaga mag-aral,” Abunda shared in his previous interview. This must be why even at his age, the TV host is not afraid to explore the many facets of learning, which he gets from his daily activity as a host, PR man, and talent manager.

"Iba, e. Iba ‘yong na-realize ko na ang dami-dami kong alam dahil sa mga pinagdaanan ko. I worked on a lot of jobs. I went through a lot of shows. I went through a lot of experiences in life and I thought I learned so much. But I realized that the scholastic discipline of going to school is different. Iba pa rin,” he explained.
