Spokesperson for each department proposed
Malacañang has recommended to the incoming administration of President-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to designate a spokesperson to each department so that the Executive will not be flooded with media inquiries.
Presidential Spokesperson Ricardo Saludo said that they have echoed to the Aquino transition team their recommendation that all departments should have their own spokesperson to better facilitate media relations as well as to improve their public service.
Saludo expressed hopes that the next administration would adopt their proposal, which was supposed to be enforced before Ms. Arroyo steps down. He said the proposal was not enforced due to “lack of time.”
(This is one of the good proposals that might be adopted by the next administration so that all the inquiries related to daily activities of the departments won’t all be thrown to Malacañang. The agencies concerned are much knowledgeable to talk about their programs and it would be better if their spokesperson would answer these queries, instead of Malacañang),” he told government-run DzRB.
