MSU set to install 6th president
MARAWI CITY – International, national and local guests are expected to attend the investiture of the 6th regular president of the Mindanao State University (MSU) on Thursday, July 1 at the Dimaporo Gymnasium.
Dr. Macapado Abaton Muslim, who had been acting president of MSU for two years, was appointed as its regular president on March 5 making him the 6th president, following Dr. Camar A. Umpa, the 5th president.
Both Muslim and Umpa are alumni of MSU, and earned their doctoral degree from the University of Hawaii, Director Elin Anisha C. Guro, Office of Information, Press and Publication of MSU, told the Manila Bulletin Sunday.
Muslim is the first College Bound Program (CBP) scholar and third alumnus of MSU to become its top honcho, and the first native of this city to become its regular president.
The celebration of his investiture would be highlighted by various activities such as a Kalilang Pagana Mernao that will be done for the guests a day before the investiture to be held at the Botanical Garden and the Institute for Peace and Development.
While a symposium making the Philippines a Non-violent Society with the theme “Embedding Non-Violence in MSU’s 21st Century Role as a University for World Peace” will be held at the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management Pavilion.
