Pres. Aquino vows to review midnight appointments

Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino was finally sworn in as president the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines Wednesday afternoon at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Manila. He was sworn in by Associate Justice Carpio-Morales.

In a brief speech delivered primarily in Filipino, Aquino stated that a review "midnight appointments" will be among his first orders of business. He also stressed that, despite importance of mercy and reconciliation, he will make sure that justice is served.

"There can be no reconciliation without justice," President Aquino stated.

About so-called last minute appointments made during the previous administration, President Aquino said, "Sisimulan natin ang pag-usisa sa midnight appointments (We must review midnight appointments)."
