A three-day Agri-Aqua Harvest Festival will be held on July 16 to 18 at the Quezon Memorial Circle as a special feature of the celebration of the 14th anniversary of AANI or Agri-Aqua Network International.

The festival will be some kind of a trade show where individual farmers and farmers’ groups will be displaying their products. The event is being supported by the Department of Agriculture and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), according to Pol Rubia of AANI.

He said that farmers’ groups from Quezon, Batangas, Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite and others have reserved space to showcase their products and services. Their participation is being sponsored by the Department of Agriculture and BFAR.

Individual agribusiness entrepreneurs will also exhibiting their products and services. These include farm inputs such as organic fertilizers, farm implements, hybrid seeds, herbal products and many more.

One of the ideas that will be showcased is urban farming the organic way. A miniature demo farm will be set up in the park featuring live farm animals, like goats, turkeys, potbellied pigs, free range chickens, etc. Also to be displayed are live fishes like lapu-lapu, pangasius, hito and ornamental fishes.

An edition of Agri-Kapihan will be held in the morning of Saturday, July 17. This will be followed in the afternoon by cooking demonstrations and urban gardening seminar. On the last day, BFAR will sponsor the Aqua-Kapihan where timely topics on fisheries will be tackled. For details, log on to www.aaniphil.net.

TALK ON EXOTIC FRUIT TREES. On Sunday, July 4, from 3 to 6 p.m., we will conduct a talk on the latest developments in exotic fruit trees. This will be at the lecture hall of the ongoing garden show of the Bonsai & Suiseki Alliance of the Philippines at the Quezon Memorial Circle. Some planting materials of superior exotic fruit trees will be raffled off to attendees.
