Angono LGU bans visit to cemeteries on All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day anew

As Angono and the rest of Rizal Province are still under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ), the municipal government is prohibiting the entry of people into cemeteries and columbaries for six days beginning Oct. 29.

Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon, in her Executive Order (EO) No. 2021-21, issued on Oct. 11, bans the visit to cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaries in the municipality, from Oct. 29 until Nov. 3, as part of the measures to prevent the spread of the contagious coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The EO however allows the cleaning of graveyards until October 28 and the public to visit their departed loved ones from Oct. 15 to Oct. 28 or earlier but they must follow the 50 percent venue capacity and the strict observance of the minimum public health standard.

Calderon’s EO further states that visitors to cemeteries and columbaries should not stay more than one hour, no family gatherings inside the cemeteries will be allowed, and no installation of tents shall be done during those days prior to Oct. 29.

Persons below 21 years old, those 60 years old and above, and those with comorbidities immunodeficiency and other health risks, and pregnant women shall not be allowed entry to the memorial parks even prior to Oct. 29.

However, religious services by religious organizations or groups are allowed on Oct. 28 to Nov. 3 provided the activities are done via live streaming only.

Residents in Angono traditionally troop to cemeteries on Nov. 2 and not on Nov. 1 as part of the tradition of remembering those who died.
