Misamis Oriental blasted Ani-FCA, 88-66, to win the Mandaue City leg of the Tournament of the Philippines Friday night at the Mandaue Cultural and Sports Center.

The Meteors got a big boost from 6-foot-7 ex-Letran center Mark Andaya, who registered 12 points, all in the first half, and swatted four blocks, while former Adamson Falcon Patrick Cabahug chipped in 12 markers in the rout of the Cultivators.

With the victory in the tournament organized by the Philippine Basketball League and Liga Pilipinas, MisOr secured a total of 15 points to wrest the solo lead in the team standings with 22 points.

It was a sweet redemption for the Meteors, which placed second to Cobra Energy Drink in the General Santos City leg held two weeks ago.

In that title contest, the squad owned by Gov. Oscar Moreno came out smoking by scoring the first 18 points and led by 24 points in the second quarter but slowly lost their lead and bowed to the gritty Ironmen, 93-86, in overtime.

Neil Raneses had 11 points and was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of this leg. Eder Saldua was the fourth double-digit scorer for MisOr with 10 markers.
