CAAP orders audit of flying schools
Inline with its commitment to bring the state of Philippine Civil Aviation standards at par with the world, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has ordered a close audit of all aviation schools in the country to make sure that all of their graduates deserve to do so.
CAAP Director General Alfonso Cusi Tuesday ordered all 63 aviation schools to undergo auditing after they discovered fake licenses issued to student pilots.
CAAP consultant Raul Trinidad said they discovered a fake certificate in the possession of a foreign student. A thorough check of the foreigner’s student records showed that he took five examinations in just a single day, which Trinidad said was highly improbable.
According to Trinidad, the foreigner took five examinations in one day which includes Civil Air Regulations, Theory of Flight, Meteorology, Emergency Procedure and Navigation where the examinee scored an average of 80 percent in each subject.
“One examination is usually taken for one whole day but in this certificate the student took all five examinations in one day which is not possible. There are really irregularities,” Trinidad said.
Trinidad added that the control number of the certificate was not found in the CAAP’s records making them very suspicious.
According to Trinidad, they have requested for assistance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to help them investigate the matter further.
