Normal flight operations have returned at the runway of Manila's premiere airport after days of repair works and callibration on the Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range (VOR) station were finally completed on Wednesday.

Landings at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport are now safer and easier as the navigational aid that helps pilots locate the runway and land their aircrafts during poor visibility and bad weather has been brought back on-line.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Alfonso Cusi said in a press conference yesterday that European technicians from the VOR manufacturer have finally completed the calibration of the system after numerous test flights. With the VOR up and running, pilots can land with more confidence at the Manila airport even when the visibility is poor. (Anjo Perez)
