Baldoz vows protection of labor rights

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz vowed on Wednesday to push for the protection of labor rights and cut the department’s red tape in resolving labor cases to comply with international standards, during her turnover ceremony.

The new Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) secretary said she would lessen the department’s bureaucracy through faster resolutions of pending labor disputes.

“The International Labor Ogranization (ILO) audited our country’s compliance with the labor standards and has noted some innovative way’s on strengthening labor standards and compliance. We shall submit the ILO’s findings and recommendations to the tripartite council for consideration,” Baldoz said in a statement.

The ILO is United Nations-based organization which monitors the labors standards of its member countries.

Baldoz said she also would enhance the department’s tripartite consultation and cooperation. (Samuel Medenilla)
