Ara Mina denies recouping election losses via garage sale

Actress Ara Mina fervently denied insinuations that the reason for her holding a garage sale is to recover fiscal losses she incurred during the recent elections.
Ara Mina unsuccessfully ran for councilor in Quezon City's second district.
"Hindi ko naman ginagawa ito because of the [financial losses during the recent] elections. Sobra naman,” said she in a recent interview aired on ABS-CBN.
Though she admits spending a good deal of her own savings during the campaign period, she points out that her family has done their share in helping her out with money matters.
“Gumastos naman ako pero hindi naman sobrang gastos. I mean, naandyan naman ang family ko. Sila naman talaga ang gumastos for me,” she disclosed.
According to Ara, the proceeds from the garage sale will go to her charity foundation.
“This is a way to raise funds, aside from doing concerts. Minsan kasi mahirap din mag-solicit [for sponsorship] for one’s foundation,” she admitted.
Ara added that continuing the work she has been doing under her foundation, including that of setting up livelihood seminars for Quezon City residents, is part of a promise she made during the elections.
Despite limited financial resources, Ara vows to carry on with her advocacies.
“I aim to organize and strengthen educational programs that would help people enhance their natural abilities… to help them land the job they aspire for.”
