The city governments of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (Camanava) were recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) for their outstanding governance during the Urban Governance Exemplary Awards 2022 at the Manila Hotel on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The Urban Governance Exemplary Awards honors the local government units (LGUs) for their exemplary performance in community peace and order.
DILG-NCR assesses the activities, projects, and programs implemented by LGUs in Metro Manila to determine their performance's impact on the communities.
All the Camanava cities were recognized for having "Highly Functional” Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (ADAC) and "Functional” Peace and Order Councils.
The cities also received Child Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) awards for their excellent performance in delivering community services and programs for children and youth welfare.
The cities were also hailed as "Top Performers" in Informal Settler Family clusters and "Highly Compliant" in the Manila Bay Clean Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP).
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan expressed his gratitude to the DILG-NCR for the awards.
“Malaking karangalan po ito at patunay na nararamdaman ang ating mga pagsisikap upang panatilihin ang kaayusan at kapayapaan sa lungsod. Tuloy-tuloy lang ang ating kampanya kontra ilegal na droga at sa rehabilitasyon ng ating mga kababayan na nais magbagong buhay (This is a great honor and proof that our efforts to maintain order and peace in the city are felt. Our campaign against illegal drugs and the rehabilitation of our people who aspire to change their lives will continue),” Malapitan said.
On behalf of Malapitan, the awards were received by City Environmental Management Department (CEMD) officer-in-charge Ryan Castillo, Housing and Resettlement Office (HARO) officer-in-charge Engr. Noemi Obina, and City Planning Officer Au Ciego.
Meanwhile, Malabon and Valenzuela City governments received plaques of recognition in Gender and Development (GAD) for completing and submitting their 2023 GAD programs promptly.
The Malabon City government expressed gratitude to their staff and officers for their extensive efforts in achieving the objectives of city campaigns and programs.
"Patuloy tayong magtulungan at magkaisa upang mapangalagaan ang kapakanan ng bawat tiga-Malabon at mapanatili ang kaayusan sa lungsod! (Let's continue to work together and unite to protect the welfare of every citizen in Malabon and maintain order in the city!)," Malabon LGU said.
The Navotas local government was also recognized for the performance of its Local Council on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (LCAT-VAWC) and the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC).
Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco, together with Planning and Development Office head Engr. Rufino Serrano, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) officer Jennifer Serrano, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRM) officer Dr. Vonne Villanueva, Agriculture head Cheney Gabriel, City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) head Engr. Janice Lacsamana, and DILG-Navotas City Director Jenifer Galorport, accepted the awards.
Valenzuela City's Barangay Mapulang Lupa got the "Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award" (LTIA), which is given to city barangays whose conciliators/peacemakers achieved outstanding services in resolving community quarrels.
Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian, along with City Councilors Ricar Enriquez and Bimbo Dela Cruz, and Barangay Mapulang Lupa Chairman Atoy Natividad received the awards.
