P150,000 per blacklisted foreigner to enter PH in 'escort service scam?'
At least P150,000 is reportedly demanded from a blacklisted foreigner in an "escort service scam" allegedly perpetrated by some immigration personnel in connivance with private individuals to facilitate entry of an undesirable alien to the country.
In a press briefing on Thursday, Oct. 12, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla said that information has been received that “P150,000 ang presyo ng isang escort service sa blacklisted person (is the price for the escort service for blacklisted person).”
“We have to look at the structure again on how it happens. So yan ang pinag-aaralan namin uli (So we are studying this again),” Remulla said.
He disclosed that "we will be pursuing a movement of people again within immigration and reorganize many of the things there.”
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, on the other hand, assured that the BI is closely coordinating with the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) in investigating the syndicates involved in human trafficking.
“We are working with the IACAT to look how this syndicate runs,” said Tansingco in a statement.
“We have leads on big time traffickers so that they can be arrested and jailed” as he warned BI officials and personnel not to get involved with these syndicates.
“If we are able to confirm that we have employees involved in trafficking activities then they will face the harshest penalties of law,” he declared.
