Former President Joseph Estrada with nephew Gov. E.R. Ejercito

The inaugural ceremonies inducting former Pagsanjan (Laguna) Mayor E. R. Estregan as governor of the province last June 29, 2010 was truly star-studded!

The premier star who attended the inauguration was former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada. Erap, as everyone knows him, was a celebrated action star. His impact on the local movie scene was also unprecedented, like that of his closest friend, the late Fernando Poe Jr., dubbed as the “King.”

Gov. E.R., son of the late actor George Estregan, younger brother of President Erap, took his oath of office before his cousin, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.

Jinggoy, through a Senate Bill, has sought the transfer of management of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival to the local movie industry.

Gov. E.R. Ejercito was mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna, a position now occupied by his wife Maita Ejercito. He finished his three-year three-term.

Ever since he joined politics, E.R. vowed to serve to the best of his ability his constituents in Pagsanjan, and now the people of Laguna.

Another star at the inaugural ceremonies was Angelica Jones, whose beauty was dubbed as “flawless.” She won a seat in the provincial board. It was her second attempt.

Angelica also attended the week-long course on good governance and legislation held at the University of the Philippines.

Geoff joins Ystilo family

Fast-rising actor Geoff Eigenmann (Carla Abellana’s loveteam mate in some successful GMA-7 teleseryes) is really going places, in his acting career and being celebrity endorser. He has recently been tapped to be endorser of Ystilo Salon, joining Vina Morales and Shaina Magdayao as the face of the now very popular salon.

If Geoff is now being noticed for his acting prowess, he certainly inherited it from his parents, Michael de Mesa and Gina Alajar, both renowned and awarded actors. But Geoff was first noticed when he appeared in a TV commercial. He is now one of GMA-7’s prime leading men and hosts.

As to Vina, she remains to be busy with her concert tours abroad, and is set to release her newest album in October, in time for her birthday.

Shaina also remains visible in her showbiz career, being in the top-rating soap “Rubi,” and is of course seen every Sunday on “ASAP.”
