Solon: Mikey same as disqualified Kasangga nominees
Lauding the disqualification of two nominees from party-list group Ang Kasangga, a legislator representing a marginalized working sector in the House of Representatives urged the Commision on Elections (Comelec) to also disqualify former Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo.
Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Teodoro "Teddy" Casino called on Comelec to declare void the first nomination of former Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel "Mikey" Arroyo to represent Ang Galing Pinoy party-list in the House.
“We laud the recent Comelec ruling to disqualify the first two nominees of the Kasangga party-list... Given this, the Comelec should also disqualify Mikey Arroyo, who is both a businessman and a second-term district congressman," Casino said in a text message.
The veteran legislator argued that Arroyo does not represent the supporters of Ang Galing Pinoy, which claims to represent security guards, in the same way that Ang Kasangga nominees Teodoro Haresco and Eugenio Lacson had several other interests.
