Chinese Ambassador Liu Jianchao has vowed to invite Chinese businessmen to invest for the development of the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA).
"We assure you of our support and we will invite Chinese businessmen to see the developments at DMIA," Jianchao told officials of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) during a recent briefing held at the CIAC.
Ambassador Jianchao was impressed by the developments at the airport with the availability of support infrastructures citing the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) that made travel more convenient and faster for visitors, tourists, and the commuters.
"We have seen a tremendous developments at Clark Freeport especially at DMIA," he added. CIAC president and CEO Victor Jose Luciano told Jianchao that DMIA is being geared as the premier international gateway of the Philippines.
Luciano said DMIA averages 12 to 15 flights per week due to the foreign and local air carriers flying out of Clark since 2003.
"We at CIAC are honored by your visit here, and see the developments in our area," Luciano told Jianchao.
He also informed the Chinese Ambassador about the developments at the newly built DMIA Expanded Terminal-1 which is set to be open by July that would accommodate another 700,000 passengers per year.
The existing terminal has a passenger capacity of 2 million passengers per year. San Miguel Corporation and Metro Pacific Investments have signified their intentions to develop the Terminal 2 project for DMIA.
