The business process outsourcing (BPO) industry has already attained half or $4.7 billion out of its $9.4-billion revenue target this year as players reported of as much as 50 percent revenue growth expansion.

BPO Association of the Philippines (BPAP) president Oscar Sanez told reporters that based on its survey more than half of its members are expanding between 6 to 50 percent in terms of revenue growth.

Sanez is confident the industry is going to hit its full year revenue growth target of $9.4 billion over $7.2 billion of 2009 with more revenues coming in the second half of the year.

BPAP is aiming for a 26 to 30 percent growth in revenues this year over 2009. Last year’s $7.2 billion reflected a lower 19 percent growth over 2008.

Sanez said the BPO sector now accounts for 60 percent of total services exports of the country. The growth is fueled by the continued multi-siting and multi-processing applications among BPO firms in the country.

To further promote the industry to the world, the BPAP is lining up an aggressive campaign in the second half of the year including a pitch at the World BPO forum in New York. The group would also promote in Florida and Zurich. The focus countries are still the US, European Union, and Australia.
