Bataan town unveils agri dev’t project
MARIVELES, Bataan – Municipal Mayor Jesse Concepcion disclosed Sunday that he has launched the Agriculture Commerce and Technology (ACT) project in an effort to further enrich the capability of the local residents and boost the income of his constituents.
Concepcion pointed out that he is boosting the agriculture program since a number of his constituents are depending on farming and fishing as their main sources of income.
At the same time, he said the local government here is also supporting the various industries in this highly industrialized town being the center for commerce in Southern Bataan.
This town is host to the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), the former Bataan Economic Zone (BEZ) that was converted by virtue of a law, to further develop the area and entice investors to invest at the FAB.
FAB’s creation was principally authored by Bataan Rep. Abet S. Garcia, with the assistance his father Bataan Gov. Tet Garcia.
The Garcias predict that thousands of jobs will be generated by FAB once it gears towards full operation.
Meanwhile, the national government designated Deo Custodio as chairman of FAB where the Garcias have high hopes on his management capability being a professional manager and highly-skilled on the job.
Concepcion said that he is also giving priority on the technology program in his town aimed at upgrading the town’s capability to enable Mariveles folk to compete globally in these times of modern world.
“We are readying our people, particularly those thousands of people displaced in BEZ, to train in vocational courses and other skills that suit to the needs of the new FAB and we are in fact focusing on this aspect,” pointed out Concepcion.
