Former Justice Secretary Alberto Agra expressed Sunday readiness to face any probe involving the supposed bribery attempt on one of the witnesses in the Maguindanao massacre.

Agra and former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Nestor Mantaring are in hot water after Justice Secretary Leila De Lima ordered an investigation into the supposed bribery incident to determine whether the two should be held liable for supposedly failing to act on the matter swiftly or not. The investigation was an offshoot of the complaint filed by NBI counter-terrorism unit head Ricardo Diaz last week.

Diaz claimed that an emissary of the Ampatuan clan tried last month to bribe Kenny Dumanlag, a key witness to the brutal killing of 57 people in the strife-torn province of Maguindanao in November last year.

But Agra clarified that he had neither met Diaz nor received any report from him or the NBI relating to the supposed bribery try on Dalandag during his stint at the Department of Justice (DoJ).

Had he been notified about it, Agra said he would have “ordered an in-depth investigation” into the incident.
