JBC screens 20 bets for SC vacancy
Only 20 out of 28 candidates vying for the lone vacancy in the 15-member Supreme Court (SC) will be interviewed by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) this week.
The JBC, chaired by Chief Justice Renato C. Corona, will no longer interview the eight aspirants as they were already interviewed in September and November last year.
The eight are Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justices Estela P. Bernabe, Rosmari D. Carandang, Magdangal M. de Leon, Isaias P. Dicdican, Jose C. Reyes Jr., and Noel G. Tijam; Deputy Court Administrator Nimfa C. Vilches; and Ambassador Manuel A.J. Teehankee, the Philippine representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Except on Tuesday, the JBC will conduct daily public interviews of the remaining 20 candidates for the lone High Court vacancy to be filled up by President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III.
The interviews will be held at the Division Hearing Room of the Supreme Court Building, Padre Faura, Manila, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
