Body of Pinoy engineer to arrive July 24
The remains of the Filipina engineer who died in a hotel blaze in Iraq were temporarily scheduled to be repatriated Saturday.
This was disclosed by the Philippine Embassy in Bahgdad in a statement. According to Assistance to Nationals Officer and Attaché Donnie Fetalino, the remains of Maricar Cente will tentatively leave Sulaymaniyah via chartered flight Saturday (Iraq time) for Beirut en route to Dubai and then to Manila.
Cente perished in the fire at the Hotel Soma in Sulaymaniyah City, Kurdistan Regional Governorate in Iraq. She was an employee of the Asiacell Mobile Company based in the city.
Two other Filipinos were injured in the fire. Morelo Ermitano is still in the hospital nursing a broken leg, while Ritchie Salcedo was discharged from the hospital Sunday. A Filipino volunteer in the Kurdistan Region is providing assistance to the two, and assured that both Filipinos are fine.
