Bloomberry Foundation donates P1 B for Clark medical center
The Bloomberry Foundation of billionaire Enrique K. Razon Jr. is donating P1 billion for the construction of Clark Multi-Specialty Medical Center, according to Clark Development Corp. (CDC) President and CEO Agnes Devanadera.
Devanadera told reporters in a chance interview at the 49th Philippine Business Conference at the Manila Hotel that the medical center will house the heart, kidney and trauma centers, and the cancer institute.
“The first building costing P1 billion will be funded by Bloomberry Foundation, the foundation arm of Solaire Casinos,” she said adding that the Clark Multi-Specialty Center had been inspected by the President himself.
Razon is chairman of Bloomberry Resorts Corp., an integrated resort and casino operator.
She said that the P1 billion donation will be for the construction of one building alone, but the entire medical center project will entail a total cost of over P10 billion plus the equipment.
“It’s their (Bloomberry) corporate social responsibility (CSR) program,” she said noting that all casinos have CSR projects as required by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR).
She said they have already the masterplan for the medical center project and all donors or funders can take a look at the plan. The CDC contribution to the project is the land.
Normally, she said, a donor would like to fund one building all by itself. CDC is still on the lookout for other donors for the other facilities.
Construction of the first building will take about 18 to 24 months, she said. “It’s huge, construction has not yet started construction. We’re expecting it in the first quarter of 2024, that's the latest because we’re finishing now the documentation,” she said.
