At least 25 families were rendered homeless Tuesday when a five-hour fire gutted a row of shanties in Balong Dalig, Kawit, Cavite, the town fire department said Tuesday.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Zosimo R. Vicedo, an arson investigator, said that no casualties were reported during the fire.

Initial investigation showed that the fire started at the house of one Susan Salas at 12:58 midnight. Third alarm was raised during the fire.

Vicedo said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He estimated the property damage at P500,000.
