Of the many intrigues hurled against her family, pop star Sarah Geronimo is hurt the most by accusations that she works like a horse while her family just sits back and enjoys the fruits of her labor.

“Parang ang sarap batukan ng nagsabi no’n,” Sarah said on “Showbiz News Ngayon” on July 20.

The singer-actress is sensitive about the matter because “mahal na mahal ko sila.”

“At saka sila naman talaga ang dahilan kung bakit ako nangangarap ng ganito at nagsusumikap. Para sa kanila talaga [ang pagsisikap ko].”

Sarah’s mom, Mommy Divine, is the prime target of intrigues because of her strictness. The singer, however, is unperturbed. For her, Mommy Divine is “the best mother.”

“Sakto lang ‘yung pagiging strict nila. Napaka-hands on sa lahat ng bagay... ultimo sa damit, ultimo underwear.”

Turning twenty-two, Sarah has learned to understand where her mom is coming from.

“Mas naa-appreciate ko lahat ng ginagawa niya para sa akin."

Sarah admitted rebelling against the wishes of her parents for a time.

“Halimbawa sa damit. Gusto ko balot na balot. May times na gusto ko masunod ‘yung gusto ko sa pananamit. Meron namang nasunod pero pangit. Kaya nga tama talaga ang mga nanay. Ang baduy ng hitsura ko,” she said, laughing.

Sarah explained why she gets emotional when talks turn to family matters.

“Kasi pamilya ‘yun, eh. Ako, especially ako, napaka-dependent ko sa mga magulang ko. Napaka-sensitive lang ‘pagka nababanggit mo ‘yan, especially si mommy at ‘pag nadadamay sa mga intriga… si daddy.”

She’s thankful for having their support and love.

“Kasi napakasuwerte ko na magbi-birthday ako na 22 na buo pa rin ako. May mga sakit na dumaan pero buo pa rin ako.”
