SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, (SSHG) which is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, achieved a grand slam in 2010 by garnering the top Philippine legal awards from the IFLR Asia Awards, the Chambers Asia Awards for Excellence, and the ALB Southeast Asia Law Awards.

On March 4, SSHG received its ninth Philippine National Law Firm of the Year award at the IFLR Asia Awards in ceremonies held in Hong Kong. The annual awards are sponsored by International Financial Law Review, a magazine written for lawyers who specialize in international finance.

SSHG had won similar IFLR awards in the past as the Philippines’ Law Firm of the Year for the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The firm had previously won the Asian Legal Deal of the Year Award for Project Finance in 2000 and again in 2002.

SSHG next won the Philippine Law Firm of the Year award at the first-ever Chambers Asia Awards for Excellence in ceremonies held in Singapore on May 1, besting four other major Philippine law firms for this recognition.

Since 1990, Chambers has been engaged in the publication of in-depth and objective directories of lawyers and law firms with leading international practices. Finally, the ALB Southeast Asia Law Awards recognized SSHG as the Philippines Deal Firm of the Year at award ceremonies held in Singapore on June 4. The ALB Southeast Asia Law Awards recognize the excellence and outstanding achievements of Southeast Asia’s leading law firms and in-house legal teams as well as the top deals and dealmakers of 2009. Again, SSHG bested four other major Philippine law firms for the award.
